Families need to be able to filter explicit content.

When Congress passed the Family Movie Act of 2005, their intention was to allow content filtering on DVDs and on other media distribution platforms.  Sadly, powerful forces in Hollywood have misled the courts about the intent of Congress.  Today, your right to filter explicit content is at grave risk.

Families need an age-based content rating system that is accurate, consistent, transparent and publicly accountable.

The entertainment industry tells responsible parents to rely on age-based content rating systems.  What the industry doesn’t tell you is that THEY decide which age rating to apply… AND they stand to make more money if the ratings inaccurately suggest that a program is appropriate for children, even if it is not appropriate for children.

More than 50 years of scientific and academic research has proven the long-term, harmful impact that graphic, age-inappropriate media content can have on a child.  But over the past decade, the Entertainment Industry has created a false narrative about that proven harm.  They rely on disreputable researchers – even “scholars” who actually produce graphically violent content.  Parents need to know the truth.  Hollywood cannot celebrate the impact that their programming has on the culture when it is an issue they care about, while simultaneously refuting any impact that comes from their harmful programming!
